The architecture, the feeling of intimacy, and exclusivity are certainly a unique experience, combining traditional Japanese art, culture, and relaxation in a natural setting.
Kobuchizawa art & wellness
Situated approximately two hours from central Tokyo, the location offers stately views over the mountains and the flourishing nature. The contemporary building stands out in its rural surroundings as a landmark for Yamanashi prefecture. The Kobuchizawa Art & Wellness is a marvelous place to recharge your batteries and breathe pristine air. Visitors from all over the world, looking for uncrowded and exclusive sites, choose the “SPA Keyforest” and the “Secret Place Misen”, both relaxing and charming. Traveling along the Japanese islands offers remarkable discoveries and experiences; yet, it requires a lot of energies. Take a break!
The Hotel, created by the same architect who designed the Nakamura Keith Haring Museum, Atsushi Kitagawara, has only six rooms, each with a unique design. The rooms are named after the elements of nature using words from an ancient symbolic language, furnished with the highest quality items, large windows with irregular shapes, and wooden floors rigorously selected to create a classic yet cozy atmosphere. On clear autumn and winter days, you may admire the nearby Yatsugatake mountain range and Mount Fuji.
Yatsugatake and Kobuchizawa mountains
Mt.Yatsugatake is the only peak in Japan that rivals Mt.Fuji. According to the local legends, a long time ago, Mt. Yatsugatake was as high as Mt. Fuji. One day the goddess of Mount Fuji, tore it down out of jealousy. Ever since Mount Yatsugatake has kept its forms unchanged.
While Mt. Fuji may top Mt.Yatsugatake in height when it comes to stunning alpine landscapes and the sheer number of trekking options available, the Yatsugatake Mountains reign supreme. Mt.Yatsugatake has altitudes that can get 2,899 meters above sea level with spectacular views. There are several activities along its slopes, ski, climbing, and trekking with many trails available for all levels of skills. Moreover, wildlife is abundant in the area, so do not be surprised if you find a deer or fox on the way.
Onsen and art in Kobuchizawa
The complex develops within a lush forest of spontaneous trees, including oaks, mountain cherry trees, red pines, and larches. The design team fully respected the traditional Japanese architecture and wholly protected the surrounding plants and nature. In nature, there are no right angles or straight lines; the hotel, the museum, and the other buildings in Kobuchizawa are asymmetrical, giving life to an impulsive, artistic, and avant-garde architecture. Enjoy the Onsen Hot Springs in a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere with high-quality waters due to the abundance of minerals as sulfur and chlorine with a positive effect on the skin. It is said this Onsen was exceptional in treating the scars of the ancient Samurai, relieving them of pain and injuries sustained in the battles.”Keyspring” remains open 24 hours a day for hotel guests, without chemicals added to its waters. Besides, guests can also enjoy a golf course, tennis court, horse riding, and an artificial lake for fishing.
